Sustainability

By taking advantage of green strategies such as the CERA-CLEAR™ WRS™, customers can not only realize an immediate savings, using our solutions enables our customers to significantly lower their carbon footprint, lessen their impact to the environment and demonstrate their commitment to being good stewards of the environment.

A carbon footprint is a measure of the total amount of carbon dioxide and methane that are emitted into the atmosphere each year by a person, family, building, organization, or company.  It is calculated as carbon dioxide-equivalent (CO2e).  For example, a company’s carbon footprint would include greenhouse gas emissions from fuel that the company burns directly, such as by heating water for a process.

A carbon offset is a reduction in emissions of carbon dioxide made in order to compensate for or to offset an emissions made elsewhere.  Carbon offsets are typically measured in metric tons of CO2e.Based on the energy savings from recovered water, significant and measureable savings in CO2e are achieved.

Carbon dioxide emissions per therm are determined by multiplying heat content by the carbon coefficient by the fraction oxidized by the ratio of the molecular weight ratio of carbon dioxide to carbon (44/12). The average heat content of natural gas is 0.1 mmbtu per therm (EPA 2012).  The average carbon coefficient of natural gas is 14.47 kg carbon per mmbtu (EPA 2012).  The fraction oxidized to CO2 is 100 percent (IPCC 2006).
